John the Baptist proclaimed a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. For each individual this means a personal revival that in turns opens the door for a spiritual revival that can spread and grow throughout communities.
Isaiah 40:3-5 3. The voice of one calling out, “Clear the way for Yahweh in the wilderness; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the uneven ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; 5 Then the glory of Yahweh will be revealed.
John’s call to personal repentance and revival can be seen in these five parts:
1. The way needs to be made even in the wilderness
2. Low things need to be risen up
3. High things need to be brought down
4. Crooked things need to be made straight
5. Rough things need to be made smooth
1. Examine your life, including the good and the bad aspects. Determine to make a change to get out of the wilderness. Set up an enthusiastic vision for your life, after all, God commanded it, Gen 1:28.
2. Matthew 5:1-16 Blessed are … Consider the good in yourself and think about applying it throughout your daily activities.
3. Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before destruction. Conceit and vanity are not your friends, cast them out.
4. Consistency in good character, be responsible and reliable.
5. Get rid of bad traits, thoughts, language, habits, and actions.
Then let the glory of Yahweh be revealed in you. Repent, accept Christ as Lord and Savior, and move ahead with the Great Commission. Be sure you know what Repent, Lord and Savoir mean and require.
